Position: Jr. Business Analyst

Position Overview
The Jr. Business Analyst plays a vital role within the operations of Slingshot by working in and with a variety of departments and using this cross-departmental knowledge to work on business analytics projects. This role will require a lot of time working in Excel analyzing and manipulating data. The projects that you will work on will have a high impact on Slingshot’s business; an improvement in one department can develop efficiencies for another department. Knowing how each department works and interactions with each other will be a key ingredient to understanding every project you work on.
Duties
Examples would include, but are not limited to:
1. You will work on various projects in which you will collect, analyze, and report on data and different metrics. This can include but not limited to sales quotes, inventory metrics, and margin metrics. This will involve data manipulation and analysis in Excel and using/editing SQL queries to pull data.
2. Assist operations departments during their peak seasons.
a. For example, if you are assisting with Logistics for the day, you will participate in their day-to-day tasks like pulling orders, shipping, and/or receiving books.
b. This is for you to learn and understand the large picture of our business by helping out in various departments.
c. You’ll be expected to work enough with these departments long enough to be awarded the same badges as a strategic operations team member in the first year of employment.
3. Inventory management such as; liquidating, inventory QA processes, 3rd party marketplaces (Amazon),and making sure we are maximizing our physical inventory at the warehouse and stores.
Expectations
1. Work hours will be a standard 40-hour week.
a. There may be seasons of the year when overtime is required, but will be dependent on the assigned project’s priority and urgency.
2. Receive all Strategic Operations team member badges within the first year of employment. This will involve working with other teams and doing tasks that are outside of this job description.
3. Ability to prioritize tasks based on priority level and varying due dates.
4. Remote work will be the exception rather than the norm for this role. You will be expected to be in the office most days.
5. Flexibility in tasks and humility in service.
6. Embrace change.
7. Travel opportunities may arise throughout the year.
Qualifications
1. Some previous experience using Excel or basic software development. Nice to have - familiarity with utilizing x-lookups, pivot tables, and conditional statements.
2. Nice to have - Basic understanding of running and manipulating SQL queries.
3. High school or college level statistics and calculus.
4. Analytical mind that enjoys manipulating large data sets and solving complex problems.
5. A willingness to learn new skills within the scope of the departments we assist.
6. Ability to communicate and fit in with different departments/teams’ cultures.
7. Embraces change and is never satisfied with the status quo.
8. Is able to learn new concepts and processes quickly.
9. High school diploma or equivalent
a. 2-4 college degree preferred but not required.

Position: Store Associate (Mail Specialist)

Reports to: Taylor University Campus Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager
Location: Taylor Campus Store - Upland, IN
Commitment Level: Part Time
General Job Description
The function of the Store Associate is to serve customers in every aspect, maintain store stock and appearance, and complete sales using a point-of-sales system to sustain cash and inventory levels. We want team members who can provide outstanding customer service and takes pride in the role they play on our team and on campus. A Mail Specialist is given additional responsibility to sort and receive incoming mail and process outgoing mail daily, and occasionally receive and deliver packages to campus. This candidate can handle high volumes of mail and consistently meets daily targets. A successful Mail Specialist is someone who excels in a fast-paced setting and likes variety and building relationships. A successful Mail Specialist also understands processes, wants to follow the process, and innovates to make the process even better.
Role Function
● Creates a welcoming environment and builds rapport in the store and around campus
● Engages and supports students, parents, staff and faculty to promote sales, solve problems, and build relationships
● Serves store customers in all capacities, including but not limited to point-of-sale operations by handling cash and credit card payments, phone calls, and online sale fulfillment and shipping
● Assists with in-store receiving, locating textbooks, general merchandise, and print production (when applicable)
● Shipping of textbooks and general merchandise (when applicable)
● Fulfills course material orders (when applicable)
● General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork, typing simple documents/excel spreadsheets, emails to students when needed
Mail Room Responsibilities
● Accept incoming mail from various mail carriers daily
● Sort and receive incoming mail and occasionally packages for students and faculty in the Slingshot mail platform daily
● Manage outgoing mail daily by applying the proper postage
● Assist with daily pick up and delivery mail route on campus as needed
● Utilize delivery locations and locators as needed
● Shelve student mail and packages and maintain shelf accuracy
● Assist customers shipping outgoing mail
● Troubleshoot mail room packages and paper mail
● Complete all monthly billing processes
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
● Ability to lift 50 pounds
● Ability to carry, shelve, bend and stretch in the performance of bookstore operations as well as stand for long periods of time
● A high school diploma or equivalent
● A valid driver’s license
● 2 years of experience in retail or customer service preferred
● Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and general customers
● Computer skills in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and general internet usage

The Logistics team serves as a resource at Slingshot balancing a seasonal workflow that varies between receiving product, inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution between multiple sites and customers.
We place a high value upon productivity, safety, and efficiency, and we reward our staff accordingly. All of our team members report to the Logistics Manager for daily direction, as well as staff scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
• Pulling product and fulfilling orders efficiently
• Shipping and packaging orders effectively
